{"id":728,"date":"2018-07-05T10:00:20","date_gmt":"2018-07-05T09:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=728"},"modified":"2018-07-04T08:34:59","modified_gmt":"2018-07-04T07:34:59","slug":"bangor-bridge-progresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=728","title":{"rendered":"Bangor Bridge progresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am enjoying this painting, especially as I have found my &#8220;wrestling place&#8221;.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the path.\u00a0 Before we go there, I want to relate what else I have been doing.<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/path.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-730\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/path.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"647\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/path.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/path-150x121.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/path-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bridge itself is coming to life, as is the tower.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the introduction of the yellow sandstone which has done the trick &#8211; it&#8217;s a brighter colour and is very much the signature of these buildings.\u00a0 The grass is cheerful though still a bit uncertain as to intensity.\u00a0 The dark bush on the left has more variation, showing the sunlight catching the dark foliage and the deeper darks characteristic of shadows in strong light.\u00a0 The bushes on the bank have come and gone and come again as I work on the dry reeds and the lush grass.<\/p>\n<p>However, I changed the colour of the path, and I think I got it wrong!\u00a0 My thinking was that this is Wales not the Mediterranean so my favourite creamy ground with purple shadows would be too hot.\u00a0 This is a typical breezy, sunny day in North Wales, so blue grey should work with the sky and the water.\u00a0 But the painting died a little, so how about a different grey, or going back to what I had before? &#8211; no decision yet.<\/p>\n<p>Moving on, in the hope that things will resolve themselves as I work up the rest of the painting, I looked at the margins of the water<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/river.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-731\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/river.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/river.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/river-150x119.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/river-300x238.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>.\u00a0 The reeds had practically crossed the river so I reined them in, improving the water while I was at it.
