{"id":565,"date":"2017-11-28T08:30:13","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T08:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=565"},"modified":"2017-11-28T08:30:13","modified_gmt":"2017-11-28T08:30:13","slug":"riverside-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=565","title":{"rendered":"Riverside garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been using my watercolour pencils again.\u00a0 This is a much more complex drawing, and the fact that I even attempted it freehand speaks volumes about my new found confidence in line drawing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Riverside-garden.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-570\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Riverside-garden-300x222.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Riverside-garden-300x222.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Riverside-garden-150x111.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Riverside-garden.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The little garden is full of different levels, plants, and pots, with the reflecting water as an added complication.\u00a0 It is also very green and I am having some difficulty with the varying greens, so I shall have to alter my approach.\u00a0 To this point, I have used the watercolour pencils dry only adding water when I felt happy with the dry work.\u00a0 This has had some splendid results &#8211; I love the potted bushes on the top level, and the accidental &#8220;cauliflower&#8221; on the left which gives a perfect bush shape to work into &#8211; and the steps are acceptable.\u00a0 But the plants to the left of the steps are poorly shaped and too uniformly bright.<\/p>\n<p>I am going to try mixing my colours on a scrap of paper then lifting them with a wet brush to see if I can find a subtle way to do this area.\u00a0 Then again, the &#8220;cauliflower&#8221; reminds me of one way that Zoltan Szabo paints trees, so maybe I can explore this idea as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been using my watercolour pencils again.\u00a0 This is a much more complex drawing, and the fact that I even attempted it freehand speaks volumes about my new found confidence in line drawing.
