{"id":387,"date":"2017-05-16T10:00:55","date_gmt":"2017-05-16T09:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=387"},"modified":"2017-05-14T08:56:28","modified_gmt":"2017-05-14T07:56:28","slug":"canal-boats-01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=387","title":{"rendered":"Canal boats 01"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I suppose it&#8217;s a small journey from bridges over a river to canal boats!\u00a0 A watery theme perhaps?<\/p>\n<p>Water colour paper has a big influence on how a painting appears.\u00a0 I am trying some new paper, much recommended by Hazel Soan, one of my favourite painters.\u00a0 It&#8217;s called Khadi paper and I found it in Jackson&#8217;s on-line Catalogue.\u00a0 This is hand-made in India, so each sheet is separately produced rather than in a continuous roll using 100% cotton rag.\u00a0 It&#8217;s acid free, and has a texture all its own.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Canal-boat01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-391\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Canal-boat01-300x223.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Canal-boat01-300x223.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Canal-boat01-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Canal-boat01.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>As you can see, it works beautifully for dry brush work, making it easy to create all those broken edged trees and bushes, yet it is possible to produce a smoother wash as in the canal itself.\u00a0 It bellied quite a bit when I used a very wet wash but reverted to its former self as it dried.<\/p>\n<p>There is more to do &#8211; the shadows are too pale for a start &#8211; but I like the way it takes the paint.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I suppose it&#8217;s a small journey from bridges over a river to canal boats!\u00a0 A watery theme perhaps?
