{"id":340,"date":"2017-03-21T10:00:21","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T10:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=340"},"modified":"2017-03-20T08:49:21","modified_gmt":"2017-03-20T08:49:21","slug":"a-new-gallery-for-farndon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=340","title":{"rendered":"A New Gallery for Farndon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, a new Gallery has opened in Farndon,\u00a0 which is great news for local artists.\u00a0 The owner, Ian Walton,\u00a0 who is also an artist- www.ian-walton.com &#8211; is punctuating the regular display with themed exhibitions, his first on being &#8220;Capturing Spring&#8221;.\u00a0 I am delighted that he has accepted two of my own paintings for display in this exhibition, which is running from the 25th of this month to mid-April.<\/p>\n<p>The first of these paintings I want to share with you is this little waterfall.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_330\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-330\" style=\"width: 188px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Lakeland-Fall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-330\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Lakeland-Fall-188x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Lakeland-Fall-188x300.jpg 188w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Lakeland-Fall-94x150.jpg 94w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Lakeland-Fall.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 188px) 85vw, 188px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-330\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lakeland waterfall<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It&#8217;s quite a big painting, 23 inches by 34 inches, but the waterfall itself was not much bigger.\u00a0\u00a0 I came across it on a Lakeland holiday.\u00a0 It is such a delight -the first long fall then the tumbling splashing escape to the water below, the brave little sapling just showing its leaves, the russets of grass and bush, and what about those rocks!\u00a0\u00a0 Even in the little places they create the landscape.\u00a0 Deep darks counter-change the light catching the water, rocks and leaves just so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_332\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-332\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/The-rolling-English-road.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-332\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/The-rolling-English-road-300x236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/The-rolling-English-road-300x236.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/The-rolling-English-road-150x118.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/The-rolling-English-road.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The rolling English road<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In contrast,\u00a0 the other painting is light and open, typical of the gentle landscape of parts of\u00a0 Cheshire and Shropshire.\u00a0 This is not a very good reproduction &#8211; one of my many future tasks is to get to grips with my camera.\u00a0 The road plunges down the slope, turning at the bottom to climb the hill on the other side.\u00a0 In reality, this is not a road to be walking on.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very busy, a fast road\u00a0 with double yellow lines on each side.\u00a0 You would be taking your life in your hands to venture on it.\u00a0 But I have always loved this view which opens before you as you breast the hill.\u00a0\u00a0 I have made it people-friendly\u00a0 so I can share my pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>Do go to the Exhibition if you live nearby &#8211;
