{"id":283,"date":"2017-01-31T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T10:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=283"},"modified":"2017-02-13T10:24:14","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T10:24:14","slug":"portrait-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=283","title":{"rendered":"Portrait progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Things started well.\u00a0 I began by painting the darker areas using Sepia and Chrome Green to give some variation and depth, suggesting\u00a0 shadows where one figure overlapped the other as well as the facial ones already indicated.\u00a0 A few marks represented folds in clothing, etc.\u00a0 By working over the whole painting in this way, I am able to maintain the integrity of a joint portrait.\u00a0 I was enjoying the process and happy with the result.<\/p>\n<p>The next visit was a mistake &#8211; hurried and thoughtless, more interested in moving the painting on than in doing so successfully! and this is the result.\u00a0 I could have wept.<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Disaster.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-285\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Disaster-249x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Disaster-249x300.jpg 249w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Disaster-125x150.jpg 125w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Disaster.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 249px) 85vw, 249px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 They look as if they have a serious skin complaint!\u00a0 On the up side, his jacket looks the right colour, and I haven&#8217;t obliterated all the careful drawing, but that was a definite lesson in not trying to hurry because there is only a short time available at this moment.
