However, I do have other plans and these photos represent my ambitions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Plans2017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-260\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Plans2017-300x213.jpg\" alt=\"New Year plans\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Plans2017-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Plans2017-150x107.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Plans2017.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The rose in the centre will make a beautiful watercolour and will help me overcome my inhibitions about painting flowers;\u00a0 I achieved my second acceptable effort in June last year which you can see in my second blog post, so this isn&#8217;t something I am hurrying!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The garden photos are also destined to be watercolour &#8211; it&#8217;s good to think of Summer in January here in the UK.\u00a0 Two portraits &#8211; actually they will make one painting as they a photos of my friends when young, before they met and married, so this is something of a nostalgic enterprise.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_261\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-261\" style=\"width: 242px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/CollageBook.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-261\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/CollageBook-242x300.jpg\" alt=\"Collage, Colour &amp; Texture<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Then there are other directions I wish to explore.\u00a0 I ventured into mixed media last year, not very far in, but enough to see that its not a doubtful means of attaining a result, but a means of expression in its own right.\u00a0 One of my students has produced beautiful pictures following the guidance of this book, so much so that I have bought my own copy to study before attempting something of my own.\u00a0 I like the way the image appears as if rising from the paper itself, a bit like sculptures are said to the in the stone waiting to be freed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_266\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-266\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DeLeivin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-266\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DeLeivin-300x239.jpg\" alt=\"De Leivin\" width=\"300\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DeLeivin-300x239.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DeLeivin-150x119.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DeLeivin.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-266\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">De Leivin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This painting has been on our walls for years &#8211; the photo doesn&#8217;t do it justice at all.\u00a0 I spend many passing moments wondering how the artist used his paint to such silky effect.\u00a0 The surface is very smooth, the details are precise, the control is awe-inspiring.\u00a0 Finally, I have one or two ideas, and am looking forward to creating my own silky paintings.<\/p>\n<p>I must not forget my Meander book which is needing seven small masterpieces for its tiny pockets.\u00a0 Painting small is another of my bugbears.\u00a0 Happy 2017!<\/p>\n<p>PS\u00a0 Just received my &#8220;Paint&#8221;
