final day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We spent the day in a tiny hilltop\u00a0 village of Monte Bianchi.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very picturesque so the inhabitants are used to painters, and just carried on, greeting us pleasantly but incurious about our efforts.\u00a0 There were splendid views all round from both\u00a0 the grassy lawn in front of the church at one end of the village, and the modern hotel and restaurant at the other.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1412\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-01-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"372\" height=\"521\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-01-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-01-107x150.jpg 107w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 372px) 85vw, 372px\" \/><\/a>Full of confidence, I went straight in with paint!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was such a simple view -the distant, tree-covered mountains covered with early morning mist, the grass green lawn with its little tree, then the pillar of the church porch.\u00a0 We were given 20 minutes to capture this view.\u00a0 There was a slender palm tree with a mop on top\u00a0 on the right hand side that would have balanced the composition , but time ran out.<\/p>\n<p>We repaired to the restaurant where we well provided for, and sat in the shade finishing the carafe of wine.\u00a0 Perhaps that was an incautious thing to do, for we another painting\u00a0 to do, this time the view from the hotel terrace.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-02DSC01478.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1413\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-02DSC01478-300x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-02DSC01478-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-02DSC01478-150x107.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Monte-Bianchi-02DSC01478.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 383px) 85vw, 383px\" \/><\/a>In view of what I have just said, you will understand that this is less than perfect.\u00a0 The mountains, the trees and the drive are OK, but that large dark green cotton wool ball on the right is not one of my most memorable paintings.<\/p>\n<p>It was a splendid holiday and taught me much.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll be going out painting as Autumn and Winter approach,\u00a0 but I&#8217;ll be out there come the Spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We spent the day in a tiny hilltop\u00a0 village of Monte Bianchi.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very picturesque so the inhabitants are used to painters, and just carried on, greeting us pleasantly but incurious about our efforts.\u00a0 There were splendid views all round from both\u00a0 the grassy lawn in front of the church at one end of the &hellip;
