{"id":1418,"date":"2020-10-08T10:00:35","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T09:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1418"},"modified":"2020-10-01T09:31:27","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T08:31:27","slug":"more-italian-paintings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1418","title":{"rendered":"More Italian paintings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We visited a town clustered around a castle called Verracola that presented a myriad of painting opportunities.\u00a0 Mike suggested this view, standing with our backs to the castle with the bridge over the stream\/river below us.\u00a0 You could see this becoming a raging torrent in winter, but the colouring was pleasant, the day was warm, and I had an easel to rest my pad on!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Verrucola.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1399\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Verrucola-300x215.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Verrucola-300x215.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Verrucola-150x107.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Verrucola.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 405px) 85vw, 405px\" \/><\/a>This took the morning to do, and I was beginning to remember technique though still uncomfortable with too much equipment.\u00a0 The organisation of paint, paint tubes, water pot, brushes,\u00a0 seemed to be a juggling exercise\u00a0 though the easel did improve things.\u00a0 I&#8217;m reasonably happy with this painting.\u00a0 The view through the bridge\u00a0 needs sorting.\u00a0 I stopped because I lost concentration.\u00a0 So I&#8217;ve learned two things:\u00a0 I need an easel, and two hours is the maximum I can paint for in such a concentrated fashion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Posara-waterfall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1421\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Posara-waterfall-176x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"176\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Posara-waterfall-176x300.jpg 176w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Posara-waterfall-88x150.jpg 88w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Posara-waterfall-599x1024.jpg 599w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Posara-waterfall.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 176px) 85vw, 176px\" \/><\/a>That afternoon, after a splendid lunch in a restaurant in Verrucola that opened specially for us, (the outcome of the contacts The Watermill had built over the years), we returned to the Mill to paint a waterfall viewed from the grounds.\u00a0 This was a very different plein air experience!
