{"id":1233,"date":"2020-03-19T17:04:43","date_gmt":"2020-03-19T17:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1233"},"modified":"2020-03-19T17:04:43","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T17:04:43","slug":"lorikeet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1233","title":{"rendered":"Lorikeet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was an adventure!\u00a0\u00a0 I have used oil pastels very rarely and with no real success and I&#8217;m not sure that I used oil pastels this time either.\u00a0 I have two boxes which purport to be such but they are totally different in feel and application.\u00a0 One set (donated) is\u00a0 waxy, like wax crayons, and one (bought in the distant past about 45 years ago when I thought, from no knowledge, that oil pastels were the natural progression from oil paints ) is like an extraordinarily\u00a0 firm ordinary pastel.\u00a0 The two kinds didn&#8217;t mix.\u00a0 So I was left with one starter kit or the other of about a dozen bright colours.\u00a0 The picture is bright so\u00a0 I used what I had, but am resolving the issue by buying some new ones (Sennelier).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lorikeet.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1235\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lorikeet-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lorikeet-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lorikeet-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lorikeet-769x1024.jpg 769w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Lorikeet.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 85vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is the result.\u00a0 It looks a bit like a stuffed toy but I may get a more satisfactory result from the new pastels when I get them.\u00a0\u00a0 I discovered that I couldn&#8217;t put lighter colours, particularly white, over other colours.\u00a0 So I had to reserve lighter areas or do them first.
