{"id":1227,"date":"2020-03-18T12:44:42","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T12:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1227"},"modified":"2020-03-18T12:44:42","modified_gmt":"2020-03-18T12:44:42","slug":"stormy-weather","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1227","title":{"rendered":"Stormy weather"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That was fun!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve spent some time edging this painting to fruition.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a happy stage as the picture is entirely present and only needs adjustments to burst into song, a blurring here, a sharp edge there.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t consult the photo very much.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not after a close copy, and the painting itself is telling me where to work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stormy-weather.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1229\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stormy-weather-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stormy-weather-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stormy-weather-150x103.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stormy-weather.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 85vw, 483px\" \/><\/a>I have brought the tones in the rocks closer together so that it looks all of a piece, and attended to the shape of the edges, both internally and where the sea attacks them.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve muted the red brown sand at the very front so that it doesn&#8217;t fight with the rest of the painting, and extended the dark rocks on the right hand side to support the lower edge on that side.<\/p>\n<p>I will admit to taking a ruler to the horizon &#8211; it had a distinct hill in it!\u00a0 I have also introduced more colour into the dark wave to suggest some translucence.\u00a0 The turmoil between the wave and the rocks was exciting.\u00a0 The waves needed to advance but I also had to keep a horizontal mode going as well.<\/p>\n<p>I signed it so I must be content!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Look-at-me.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1231\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Look-at-me-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Look-at-me-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Look-at-me-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Look-at-me.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Now, while I&#8217;m in a pastel mood,\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to tackle this photo in oil pastels &#8211; clear shapes, clear bright colours &#8211; should be good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That was fun!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve spent some time edging this painting to fruition.
