{"id":1142,"date":"2019-11-21T10:00:31","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T10:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1142"},"modified":"2019-11-20T11:08:50","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T11:08:50","slug":"wow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1142","title":{"rendered":"Wow!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have just returned from a two day watercolour course with my favourite painter, Hazel Soan.\u00a0 She is just as good a teacher as she is in her DVDs but the addition of her driving energy and high expectations made all twelve of us make more paintings in two days than I would have thought possible, at least eight full pictures each.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/London.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1144\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/London.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/London.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/London-110x150.jpg 110w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/London-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/London-749x1024.jpg 749w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 255px) 85vw, 255px\" \/><\/a>All the sessions showed how to simplify the scene, how to achieve results quickly and easily, so that the spontaneous nature of the medium was not compromised.\u00a0 Each focused on a different aspect, beginning with the importance of\u00a0 of tone to show perspective.\u00a0 The London shot of Big Ben silhouetted against an evening sky (transparent orange and ultramarine blue only) encouraged deepening tones as we moved forward.\u00a0 I was chuffed with the taxi!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rocks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1145\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rocks.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rocks.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rocks-150x110.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rocks-300x219.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 253px) 85vw, 253px\" \/><\/a>Then we moved on to tone creating three dimensions &#8211; wet in wet\u00a0 and wet on dry, soft and hard edges.\u00a0 I think we all did pretty well on this exercise as the scene wasn&#8217;t complicated, each rock having its own attention.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lemons-on-tree.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1146\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lemons-on-tree.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lemons-on-tree.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lemons-on-tree-150x106.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lemons-on-tree-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 239px) 85vw, 239px\" \/><\/a>On again,\u00a0 this time to lemons ripening on the tree, more rounded forms and a plethora of leaves .\u00a0 This time the paints were aureolin, indian yellow, violet and prussian blue.\u00a0 The fruits were relatively easy, wet in wet, using the two yellows and violet.\u00a0 I came apart on the leaves, losing the freshness, battling with the age old conundrum of pigment to water ratio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ele01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1148\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ele01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"191\" height=\"143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ele01.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ele01-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ele01-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 191px) 85vw, 191px\" \/><\/a>Finally, released in to ele-land!\u00a0 These three-colour elephants were one of the first things I tried when I discovered Hazel&#8217;s DVD&#8217;s.
