{"id":1065,"date":"2019-08-29T10:00:11","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T09:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1065"},"modified":"2019-08-17T13:59:48","modified_gmt":"2019-08-17T12:59:48","slug":"kingfisher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/?p=1065","title":{"rendered":"Kingfisher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may remember I have quite a menagerie in my sitting room, as mentioned in my posts about the Honourable Giver of Contentment.\u00a0 I have added to my aviary today by creating this kingfisher on the fire screen.<\/p>\n<p>The screen is tall, not quite shoulder high, and has seem various incarnations over the years.\u00a0 Originally I covered it with a piece of lace curtain and sprayed gold paint at it &#8211; very effective when the lace was removed.\u00a0 Later I chose to\u00a0 paint a stencil of Chrysanthemums, also in gold, enlarged from a lampshade design.\u00a0 But this time, colour was needed and bird life is a theme (dragons can fly!).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Kingfisher.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1067 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Kingfisher-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Kingfisher-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Kingfisher-112x150.jpg 112w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Kingfisher-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Kingfisher.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 85vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>After all that concentration on watercolour, I have returned to acrylics.\u00a0\u00a0 This is a &#8220;one chance&#8221; painting &#8211; if I get it wrong, I&#8217;ll have to repaint the entire screen again!<\/p>\n<p>I started with a light pencil sketch (freehand, Yeh!!!)\u00a0 then laid out my acrylics.\u00a0 For some reason, I had no Prussian Blue, so used Cerulean Blue Dark and Phthalo Green to achieve bluey green.\u00a0 The Cadmiums, Red and Yellow provided orange, shading with Burnt Sienna.\u00a0 The markings and the colours are so distinctive that it&#8217;s difficult to go wrong.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Firescreen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1068\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Firescreen-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Firescreen-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Firescreen-112x150.jpg 112w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Firescreen-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.williamsonfineart.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Firescreen.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 85vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Here he is in situ with The Cat Person, sublimely oblivious of his presence, at his feet.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not convinced by the branch, and I don&#8217;t know how long it will be before I feel moved to do something about that!\u00a0 However, with the Honourable Giver of Contentment on his left,\u00a0 and the exuberant macaws on the curtains, he\u00a0 (and pussy) sit well in the room.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may remember I have quite a menagerie in my sitting room, as mentioned in my posts about the Honourable Giver of Contentment.\u00a0 I have added to my aviary today by creating this kingfisher on the fire screen.
